The equine supplement industry has come a long way in the past 30 years. There are now supplements for every possible type of horse health issue. The packaging for equine supplements has typically been buckets, bags and plastic containers of all sizes. These containers take up valuable barn and trailer space and cause extra work when taking supplements on the road.
Fortunately, equine supplement packaging has evolved. One such advance is personalized packaging in small plastic containers with each supplement separated in a small square and the entire menu of supplements covered by a peel back label. This type of packaging was launched on the market twenty years ago. While the small plastic box personalization was an improvement, the leftover plastic packaging is bulky and fills up garbage cans, recycling bins or landfills. In cold temperatures, the peel back label doesn’t come off easily and can make dispensing the supplements a real chore.

Hello readers. My name is Phoebe and I live in Durango Colorado. Durango is in the four corners area of southwest Colorado. Living in this part of Colorado allows me close access to three states within an hour drive. I have lived on Colorado’s front range and also in the Grand Junction and Montrose areas of the western slope. Horses have been a passion in my life for 35 years.
While the financial services industry was my career, it was an enabler, which gave me the ability to have horses and enjoy thousands of hours in the saddle. After getting my bachelors degree in Wisconsin I worked in Minneapolis before moving west in 1996. I continued my corporate career in Denver where I also earned my masters degree in marketing.
Being in Colorado since 1996 I have spent thousands of hours enjoying the mountains and exploring many of Colorado’s wilderness areas by horseback. My favorite times on horseback are spent in the saddle climbing trails in the rugged Rocky Mountains. I have ridden in twelve of Colorado’s wilderness areas and also in Wyoming, South Dakota, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. During the winter I have spent my horse time participating in speed events, pair pace cross country jumping, roping, competitive trail riding and endurance.
My daughter is an extremely talented rider and we have branched out into many additional horse disciplines including English and Western showing, hunter/jumper, dressage, and three -day eventing. She rides her reliable and hardy Icelandic pony with me in the mountains and has been up to 11,000 feet in elevation. She is currently training a two-year-old mustang for a Youth Mustang Challenge sponsored by the United States Forest Service.
Thank you for reading my blog posts. I hope you find them interesting and helpful for your horse activities.
